Kasama September 2014 Basic Needs and Nutrition Basket Report

This survey was conducted on 29th and 30th September 2014 by the Social and Economic Development Programme of the Jesuit Centre for Theological Reflection. Average prices were calculated on the basis of surveys conducted at Newtown Market, Chikumanino Market, Tazara Market, Chambeshi Market and Town Centre Shoprite. Additional information was obtained from ZESCO, the Chambeshi Water and Sewerage Company and schools, clinics and houses around Kasama. The September Basic Needs Basket is approximately US$415 based upon an exchange rate of K6.2487 per US$ prevailing on the day of data collection. Please note that other monthly costs would include personal care, clothing, recreation, etc.
