This survey was conducted on 25th February, 2014 by the Social and Economic Development Programme of the Jesuit Centre for Theological Reflection. Average prices were calculated on the basis of surveys conducted at Masala Market, Twapia Market, Mushili Market, Lubuto Market, Chifubu Market, pick “n’ pay and Town Centre Shoprite. Additional information was obtained from ZESCO, the Kufubu Water and Sewerage Company and schools, clinics and houses around Ndola. The February Basic Needs Basket is approximately US$ 546 based upon the rate of K5.7581 per US$ prevailing on the 25th February, 2014. Please note that other monthly costs would include personal care, clothing, recreation, etc.
