Chinsali February 2014 Basic Needs and Nutrition Basket Report

This survey was conducted on 26th and 27th February 2013 by the Social and Economic Development Programme of the Jesuit Centre for Theological Reflection. Average prices were calculated on the basis of surveys conducted at new market, Old market, Kalukungu market and Kabuta market. Additional information was obtained from ZESCO, the Chambeshi Water and Sewerage Company and schools, clinics and houses around Chinsali. The February Basic Needs Basket is approximately US$309 based upon an average exchange rate of K5.7822 per US$ prevailing on the days of data collection. Please note that other monthly costs would include personal care, clothing, recreation, etc.
