Average prices were calculated on the basis of surveys conducted at Kyawama Market, Main Market, Zambia Market, Mitec Market, and Messenger Market. Additional information was obtained from ZESCO, Solwezi water and Sewerage Company and schools, clinics and houses around Solwezi. The January Basic Needs Basket is approximately US$549 based upon the average exchange rate of K 5.5638 per US$ prevailing on 30th and 31st January 2014.
